Strategic Planning
PH Business Consulting provides a facilitation service for senior management strategic planning conferences and advice on the strategic planning process.
The value of an external facilitator to the strategic planning process is well established. The facilitator brings an independent view to the proceedings and ensures that the difficult issues are confronted by the management team.
The facilitator raises important questions and ensures that participant's input to the process is realistic. This is critical to the success of the strategic planning conference and ensures that the outcomes are aligned with the objectives set in advance of the meeting. It is also extremely useful to have the final plan document reviewed externally as this acts as a reality check and important questions surface that may not have been raised by the management team putting the plan together.
The service offered by PH Business Consulting includes the following:
- An initial meeting with the client, (usually CEO and Head of Finance/Planning) to review the existing strategy and expectations from planning the conference. Work that needs to be done ahead of the event is reviewed and agreed alongside an appropriate timescale.
- Article on strategic planning by Philip Halpin
- Review of materials to be distributed to participants ahead of the conference (e.g. environmental analysis, industry analysis).
- The provision of a draft agenda for the conference for client's agreement. This will include speakers and issues to be covered in their presentations (e.g. scene setting/future vision, financial projections). It will also include topics to be covered by breakout groups during the session.
- The provision of a strategic planning template which can be used in the planning process.
- Agreement with client on desired outcomes from the conference and time scale for submission of business unit plans to achieve agreed strategic objectives on the day.
- Facilitation of Conference.
- Advice to client on the process for reviewing and agreement of business unit plans and their amalgamation into the overall plan.
- Review and critical analysis (reality check) of Strategic Plan.
- Ongoing assistance with monitoring and implementation.
- Assistance with roll out of planning process to staff.
The cost of this service is Euro 1,500 per day + VAT(21%). This is based on the client providing the venue and other usual requirements. Out of pocket expenses will be charged for work done outside Dublin.
